In this course based on the 2021 webinar series, Dr. Cameron Camp, Gary Johnson, and other experts from Center for Applied Research in Dementia explore each of the twelve principles in-depth, and how to apply them to real-life situations to make interacting with people living with dementia more rewarding for everyone. Each of the 3 parts of this catalog covers 4 of the Principles ($50), or save 20% by enrolling in the full catalog .
Courses
Part 1 of this 3-part course, explores the first 4 key Montessori principles, with practical applications and explanations of their value. Part 1 of the course covers the following: Principle 1 – Activity should have purpose and capture interest Principle 2 – Invite the person to participate Principle 3 – Offer choice whenever possible Principle 4 – Demonstrate more. Talk less.
This course continues to explore the Key Montessori Principles introduced in part 1, looking at the 2nd set of 4 principles with in depth explanations and real-world examples. Part 2 of the course covers the following: •    Principle 5 – Physical Skills. Focus on what the person can do. •    Principle 6 – Match your speed to theirs. Slow down! •    Principle 7 – Use visual hints, cues or templates. •    Principle 8 – Give the person something to hold.
The last part of this course looks more closely at the final 4 key principles of a Montessori Inspired Lifestyle®. Principle 9 – Go from simple to more complex. Principle 10 – Break a task down into steps. Principle 11 – There is no right or wrong way to do an activity. Think Engagement. Principle 12 – Ask for Feedback.
